  • Safeguarding Policy

    Aspire2Shine: Safeguarding Policy


    At Aspire2Shine, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We are committed to creating a positive and secure learning environment for all. This Safeguarding Policy outlines the procedures we follow to ensure student safety and prevent harm.


    Our Safeguarding Principles


    The welfare of the child is paramount.

    We listen to children and take their concerns seriously.

    We work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals.

    We have clear procedures for reporting concerns.

    We promote a culture of safety and respect.

    Our Safeguarding Procedures


    DBS Checks


    All Aspire2Shine tutors/ mentors undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check to ensure their suitability to work with children.


    Tutor/ Mentor Training: Tutors/ Mentors receive training on safeguarding procedures, including recognising signs of abuse and neglect, and how to report concerns.


    Supervision: Tutors are supervised by a senior member of the Aspire2Shine team.


    Tutor/Mentor-Student Code of Conduct


    A clear code of conduct outlines expected behavior for both tutors and students to promote a respectful learning environment.

    Reporting Concerns: We have clear procedures for reporting concerns about a child's safety. This includes a designated Safeguarding Lead within Aspire2Shine who can be contacted directly. We will also report concerns to the appropriate statutory agencies, such as Social Services or the police, if necessary.


    Confidentiality


    We will maintain confidentiality in all safeguarding matters, while also ensuring the safety of the child is the paramount concern.


    Working in Partnership


    We believe that communication and collaboration are essential for safeguarding children. We will work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals involved in a child's life to ensure their safety and well-being.


    Parental Consent


    We will obtain written consent from parents/carers before a tutor meets with a child. Parents/carers are also welcome to be present during tutoring sessions if they wish.


    Information Sharing


    We will share information with parents/carers about our safeguarding procedures and how to report any concerns. We will also share relevant information with other professionals involved in a child's life, with the consent of the parents/carers or as required by law.

  • Cancellation Policy

    At Aspire2Shine, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. 


    However, to ensure fairness for both students and tutors, we have a clear cancellation policy in place.


    Cancellations by Students


    Notice Required: We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for cancellation of any scheduled tutoring session. This allows us to offer the time slot to another student.


    Shorter Notice: Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will be subject to a 100% fee of the session cost.


    Emergencies: We understand that emergencies can occur. In these rare cases, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss the situation. We may waive the cancellation fee depending on the circumstances.


    Cancellations by Aspire2Shine:


    In the unlikely event that Aspire2Shine needs to cancel a session, we will provide you with at least 48 hours' notice and offer you the option to reschedule the session at a mutually convenient time or receive a full refund.


    Rescheduling:


    We encourage students to reschedule sessions with as much notice as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your request based on tutor availability.


    Communication:


    All cancellations and rescheduling requests must be communicated to Aspire2Shine via email.
